The tech and the overall experimentation is wondrous, but the art is more around grade school. I'm fairly technical myself and I could probably bridge the gap between the two worlds.

I love crocheting with plarn... I made a purse and I love it... like she said, it's durable and you are using up old plastic bags... I'm planning on making my mom some grocery bags so we don't get as many coming in :)

To reduce the amount of plastic bags in the environment, do like me: make yourself bags out of organza to weigh your produce. It's very sturdy, it's semi-transparent and it weighs less than 10 grams per bag. I hardly use any plastic bags anymore and there are only about five in my house that's all.

I don't see the interest of making plarn and crocheting or knitting it. It's not like there's a penury of yarn, and plarn is nasty like the bags it comes from, so you can't make anything nice with a nasty material. If you want to get rid of plastic bags just tie them in a knot so they won't fly off or be swallowed by wildlife and put it where it belongs: in the GARBAGE.
