I use size 11/0 and 15/0 to "bead bezel" a cabochon on silk. Basically the same as tubular peyote, but this is used for decorative effect as well as function to hold the cab in place. You can bezel any kind of cab, any size this way.

Many hours of intricate beadwork and so many beads used, I didn't count them : )
The bracelets begin with focal beads and then bead embroidery is done around them.....one thing leads to another and before you know it, you have a completed work of art : )

The focal bead "spirit bird" was purchased years ago in a quaint little shop in the North Carolina Mountains.
The hand carved bead was the inspiration for the bracelet.

The beads come in hanks of about 12 strands. You carefully remove one strand of beads from the hank and tie the thread the beads are on to the spool of thread you will be using. Carefully slide the beads off their original thread onto the new spool of thread. It takes about 2 minutes.

Don't attempt to use silk chiffon until you have some experience under your belt. With experience you can bead through opaque fabric like prints, brocades, damask etc.

Once I mastered the techniques I began to experiment more with color combinations and different styles. Let loose and express yourself. You'll be glad you did.
