Very nice method. ... By: MiXueLe. on 23 Jun 10, 15:42:15 Very nice method. Bead and Button Mag. site has a method that's a lot like this, but you cull through your beads and find the thinnest beads in the mix. My Toho size 11 beads always have a small collection of abnormally thin forms mixed into the vial.
Like your pattern, sew through 2 beads without adding one. The next row use one or two thin beads in that space. Then the third row sew through the one or two thin beads. Then add one normal bead in that space when stitching the fourth row.

I did not try it yet, because there is a minimal limit for the worth of buying, but shure, You can find there Czech beads (it's a Czech wholesale site). I don't think, ordering from them would be more expensive, as an order from an other internet-store.
@Aveszedelem Yeah, ... By: tsummerlee. on 20 May 10, 23:55:52 @Aveszedelem Yeah, I know, but I'll bet you can buy Czech hanks cheaper than I can! Czech beads are awesome for all kinds of things, even for lots of weaving projects.
Here's a way to remember: Quality Japanese seed beads never (NEVER) come on a hank. (or temporarily strung). They're always sold loose. Czech seedbeads are sold on a hank, but can also be sold loose. If the beads are strung when sold, they're Czech beads.
Cheaper beads ... By: Aveszedelem. on 20 May 10, 22:52:43 Cheaper beads aren't standardized well: for us in Hungary will be only sold beads, which are very diverse (although they will be sold as the same type in the same bundle) -- but these are all second-rate products, so I don't have to be worry about not to find beads of diverse sizes in one bundle. :)
Good idea, anyway!

I use size 11/0 and 15/0 to "bead bezel" a cabochon on silk. Basically the same as tubular peyote, but this is used for decorative effect as well as function to hold the cab in place. You can bezel any kind of cab, any size this way.

Must I use an 11/o for the bracelet area where the cab will be so that I can make the weaving look even when I bezel the cab? What I actually mean is do the bracelet beads have to be the same size and shape as the cab ? Are they using stiff stuff under the cab just like in bead embroidery? Thanx for your great tutorials!

Yes! I do think it ... By: tsummerlee. on 07 Feb 10, 16:24:08 Yes! I do think it will work IF the beads you're using have big enough holes in them. (Pony beads and Crow beads would work very well.) Remember that you have to pass the thread through the same beads three or four times. That means they'll need a big enough hole to accomodate all that thread. The needle needs to be strong enough to go through all that stuff, too. "Big eye" or split needles are great, just be careful not to bend them all out of shape when you're working.

Your instructions were perfect and your personality is adorable! Thank you for sharing! I just have one question...I don't have a ton of supplies, but, I have #10 thin crochet thread and collapsable needles for beading. My beads are all different sizes. But, do you think that the thread and type of needle will work? Thanks again!
What a wonderful ... By: tsummerlee. on 21 Jan 10, 01:27:55 What a wonderful comment. Thank you. There's something hypnotic and beautifully optimistic about new journals and books, isn't there? One could almost get philosophical about it. In fact, many do. Angst to prose, those pages beg to be filled.
Please let me know if you do upload a book binding video. It's a captivating, practical, and romantic craft you practice.

I have the materials to make a really pretty bracelet but the instructions from Fire Mountain Gems are confusing. I was able to do this with your instruction. I guess I am going to have to post video instructions on how to do book binding, another fun thing to do. What a neat way to share with each other.
Thank You

When you go to Michaels, look for "Wildfire" beading thread. It's made by Beadalon, or Nymo.
Wow! Thanks! I ... By: dsmit138. on 10 Oct 09, 00:21:49 Wow! Thanks! I bought some fishing line tonight from Wallmart, but it's too thick to do the 'feed through' (don't know the tech name for it). I'm going to a Michael's (out of town) Monday. We don't have much in po-dunk town from which to shop!
6 lb makes sense since I bought 50 lb on the recommendation of a 'fisherman' in the aisle. Anything else I could use that 50 lbs stuff for? I tried it with a much larger bead and it was too loose. Thanks for the remarks! I love this stitch!
In the demo I use ... By: tsummerlee. on 09 Oct 09, 23:26:14 In the demo I use Fireline, which is a fishing line I buy at the sporting good store. I use 6 lb line. "Nymo" is a great thread, and comes in lots of colors. The only thing I don't like about Nymo is that my needle "splits" the thread at times, which is a pain to fix. I found another thread I like called "WildFire." Silky smooth, strong, won't split from needle penetrations, and drapes beautifully. Expensive, though. Costs twice as much as Fireline.

Of ... By: tsummerlee. on 16 Jul 09, 21:53:51 "Porkies," LOL!
Of course you can! You just need to increase the number of beads when you start using the smaller one's. Example: If you were working rows of 5/0's and want to start using 11/0's, you'll need to increase the number of 11/0's you use by adding two in a space instead of one, and still end up with an even count.
0oo0oo0oo0, like that.
Gawd, I hope that makes sense.
You guys are always giving me ideas for another tutorial!

One question: is it true that I can't use other size beads apart from size 11s for peyote even count? My beading teacher said so, is she telling porkies, she also odd count peyote is not really a good stitch. What do I believe?
Thanks,
Always stretch Nymo ... By: tsummerlee. on 03 Mar 09, 01:16:43 Always stretch Nymo! Nymo's probably better for this because you can match the color so much better than with Fireline. I just hate splitting my thread with the needle! Ugh!

I've learnt it in a slightly different way. I start with four core beads. I don't have fireline it's too expensive. I just use nymo D, which you stretch before using it and it's no problem for me to do this.
